Wet Conditions in Emerald for Round 3

Well … What a weekend in (Sunny) Emerald for Round 3 of the Australian Kart Championship. It had everything!

A tough start to the weekend with the Kart coming in underweight after Practice 1, so my lap times were deleted from the session. Even with some good lap times in Practice 2, it was still not enough to keep us in the top group for qualifying.

We were feeling more confident after some changes to the Kart on Thursday night to help give us a better balance and more edge grip for the high speed corners.

Managed to Qualify in P33, which was all we could do after the P1 penalty, but we knew that the Kart would be better in race trim.

Fought my way forward in Heat 1 to finish in P14. In Heat 2 we were running up in P12 when I got caught up in an incident which dropped me to the rear of the field.

Saturday morning … the heavens opened, and I was more than happy to race in the rain, in fact I love it!

Charged through the field on the wet tyres in Heat 3 to finish in P5 and then backed it up again under lights with a P4 in Heat 4. My two best finishes so far racing at National Level.

Stayed on the wet tyres in the Saturday night final on a fast drying track. Got a good start and moved up to P13 with 10 laps to go, but my wet tyres were totally cooked and fell 'off the cliff'. Managed to fight hard and hang on for a P20 finish in the final, which is my best overall finish at an AKC round.

An positive weekend that we can take plenty of confidence from. We are definitely heading in the right direction with 2 x Top 5 finishes.

Big thank you to Troy Farley Race Engines for all your support. You guys rock 🤘
