NSW AKC Shakedown
It was my first time on the Cameron Park track and I absolutely loved it. Plenty of work to do before the AKC Round in early June, but we now have a terrific base to work from.
There were over 60 entrants in TAG125 for the AKC Shakedown Round, which included all of the top drivers, so it was going to be a tough initiation to the track.
The team did an amazing job getting the kart setup right for the conditions, and they had it right there in the window for me, so it was up to me to get the job done on track.
Qualified 2nd in my group which put us comfortably in mid-pack for the heats. I had three good Heat results, but unfortunately suffered a DNF in Heat 3 which really hurt our points and it was touch and go if we would make the final.
We managed to just scrape into the final starting from 37th on the grid, but we fought hard over the 20-lap race and clawed our way up to position 24th at the chequered flag.
Overall, a very positive weekend, and we have worked hard to narrow the gap between my lap times and those of the leaders. A huge step forward from Round 1 in Monarto.
Looking forward to a test session and then straight into Round 3 of AKC on 2-4 June 2023.
Love to see you all there … come along and support me and the Velocity Race Division.
